Are you considering breast lift?
Breast lift (Mastopexy) is the ideal solution for those whose breast over the years, have lost their elasticity, their shape and firmness and have begun to sag because of pregnancy, nursing, and excessive weight loss. A breast lift is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts. It can be performed in one surgery together with breast augmentation or correction of breast asymmetry.

The first consultation
At your initial consultation, the surgeon will ask what you would like your breasts to look like and what your goals and expectations are. He will then describe the procedure in detail along with the chosen technique. In order to reach the ideal results your surgeon may advise you to combine the procedure with a breast augmentation, because after the surgery the breasts get firmer, however at the same time they may seem smaller also. If you are satisfied with the size of your breasts and they only need to become more firm, an implant is not needed to give your breasts a more aesthetic look. All the asymmetries of the breasts (the asymmetry of the areolas or the breasts) can be corrected during the surgery. After discussing the techniques and your expectations your surgeon tells you where the incisions (depending on the technique) will be, then your surgeon explains the risks and limitations of surgery.

Before the surgery
Before your breast lift your surgeon requires you to have a mammogram or breast x-ray for your own safety. Your adviser and surgeon will give you instruction about the labor examinations.

The surgery
The surgery is always performed in a well equipped operating room where you can be treated in the unlikely case of complications. Breast lifts are performed under general anesthesia and take from two to two and a half hours. After surgery, you will wear an elastic bandage which should be changed to a surgical bra after some days. You need to wear this surgical bra for a month.
After the surgery you are required to spend a night in the hospital (Your surgeon may lengthen your stay if needed). You will have your own, comfortable room with air conditioning and a bathroom.

After the surgery
Your surgeon will schedule frequent follow-up visits after surgery. The stitches are removed within ten to fourteen days. The new shape of your breasts will be apparent in three to four months. You will need to be wearing the special bra for a couple of weeks after surgery. During the first month you are instructed to avoid heavy physical work and lifting.
